Engr. Olawumi Gasper

Olawumi Anthony Gasper is an Academic and Administrator of repute. He is an Alumnus of the Cranfield University, England, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru, Manchester Business School and the Lagos Business School.

He is a two-term past Rector of the Lagos state Polytechnic, past Chairman, Council of heads of Polytechnics in Nigeria and past Vice-Chairman, Commonwealth Association of Polytechnics in Africa. a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Fellow Nigerian Institution of Technological Engineers, he was a member of the Governing Board of the National Board for Technical Education and the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre, Magodo. He was a delegate and member, UNESCO Assisted Reforms of the Nigerian Science, Technology and Innovation Systems.

He was a consultant/technical adviser to the Lagos State Agric-YES Programme. a two-term award recipient as best Rector in the country by National Association Of Nigerian Students [NANS]. currently, he is tendering with delight his passion as he serves as the Executive Secretary/CEO of Lagos State Technical And Vocational Education Board [LASTVEB]. he is vigorously driving partnerships with the professional bodies, organized Private Sector and development partners at improving and raising the standards of practice of the Artisans in the informal ecosystem.

Mrs. Omolara Erogbogbo was born on 20th August 1955 in Lagos and attended the Holy Trinity School

Ebute Ero Lagos and Girls Secondary Grammar School, Gbagada now Eva Adelaja Secondary School, Gbagada between 1961 – 1972 for her primary and secondary education respectively. She thereafter proceeded to Bournmouth College of Technology, England in 1974 for her A Levels and the University of Lagos from where she obtained the Bachelor of Science (B.SC.) Chemistry (Hons.) with a Second Class Upper division in 1980. She also attended the Lagos State University, Ojo, where she obtained a Master degree in Public Administration in 2000.

Mrs. Omolara Erogbogbo started her working career in the Lagos State Civil Service in 1982 as a Higher Executive Officer in the State House of Assembly where she served as a Legislative Clerk. She later converted into the Administrative cadre in 1983 from where she began her tour of duty that took her through various Ministries and Agencies such as works, Environment, Hospital Management Board, Information, Finance, Local Government Service Commission, Youth, Sports and Social Development among others. During this period, she served in different capacities and held several sensitive position such as a planner in the ministry of Environment between 1986 and 1994; acting head of Personnel Management in the then Hospital Management Board and the Ministry of Information respectively; and head of the Service Matter Department in the Public Service Office among others. She steadily rose in status in service as she became Assistant Director and later Director between 1999 and 2001.

In recognition of her sterling qualities, she was in 2005 redeployed to the sensitive position of the Director, Service Matters, Office of Head of Service. It is to the credit of Mrs. Erogbogbo that the Service Matter Directorate under her headship facilitated and organised two separate retreats involving the Head of Service and the Permanent secretaries on one hand and members of the State Executive Council on the other hand by ensuring the smooth and orderly organization of activities as well as the prompt production of reports which went to members of the Executive Council for deliberation and adoption. As a matter of fact, in appreciation of her dedication to duty, sense of responsibility, hard work and reliability which not only ensured a successful outcome of the retreats but also the provision of reports, she received a well-deserved letter of commendation from the then Governor of the State, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Omolara Erogbogbo has an impressive career progression and enriched professional and work experiences having attended various courses, seminars and workshops locally and internationally such as a Personnel Effectiveness Course, Capacity Building at Grassroots organized by United Nations Development Programme in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria (TOT), Corporate Planning and Strategic Process Workshop by Establishment and Training Department and Computer Appreciation Course at Greidams, Management Course at ASCON, Legislative Duties Workshop, Personnel and Financial Management Course, Human Resources Workshop, Seminar at Lagos Business School on Change Management, Technical and Vocational Training at Hackney Technical College in London, 35th World Conference and Exhibition on Training and Development in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Management Seminar in Singapore, Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria (ESSPIN) Exchange Programme in Ganzu, China, Seminar on best practices in Education held in Singapore, Conference of Principals in Cairns, Australia and Leadership and Executive Strategy Programme at Darden Business School, University of Virginia, USA among others.

She has won many distinguished awards such as the 2001 Merit Award for the 1st Centenary celebration; Award of Excellence in 2006 in the State Public Service, Lagos State Government Long Service Merit Awards in 2015 and the distinguished award of the primate of the African Church, award of excellence in the education sector among other notable awards.

Mrs. Omolara Erogbogbo exhibits self discipline such that she leads by example. She does not preach the principles of honesty, punctuality and moral rectitude to her subordinates but rather she exudes them hence her subordinates are left with no choice but fall in line.

She is a woman of substance who is widely travelled and also an outstanding member of many reputable professional associations and Clubs including the charted Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Nigeria Institute for Training and Development (NITAD), Ikoyi Club, Young Friendly Society at Africa Church, Arch Cathedral Bethel, Lagos, Where she is a very active member and a Lay-Preacher.

Mrs. Erogbogbo whose work experience has taken her to many MDAs has undertaken many special assignments such as the committee on Restructuring of Administrative Cadre, Committee on the Review of the Ayida Panel Report, Committee on the Completion of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Screening Exercise for Transfer of Primary Schools’ Teachers with 1st degree to Secondary Schools and the committee on Improved Learning Outcomes through intervention in Public Primary and Secondary Schools in Lagos State.

She has assisted many aged, widows and indigent students morally, financially and spiritually.

In October, 2016 she was appointed the Executive Secretary of Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board, by the Excellence the Governor of Lagos State Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.
